Once upon a time, I found myself, quite unwillingly, a resident of
south-central Pennsylvania. Being a displaced New Englander in
south-central Pennsylvania gave me a unique perspective on the local dead
celebrity scene. After being raised in a region that considers the graves of
Hancock, Adams and Kennedy to be commonplace, it's difficult to get excited by
the grave of the father of the guy who gave some property back to the state to
found a capital city that 80% of the nation thinks is Philadelphia anyway.
And thus, this website was originally born. It was designed to be
sarcastic look at what the locals considered celebrities of the deceased
variety. Aside from the fact that I happen to like exploring cemeteries, it was
a nice way to take cheap shots at local icons.
Unfortunately, somewhere along the line, it started showing up
on local history and genealogy websites. And nothing takes the fun out of being
a smart-ass like being cited as a resource. So now it's simply a
collection of headstones I've stumbled across or sought out. The requirements
for inclusion are simple 1.) Be Dead. 2.) Be some one I recognize 3.) Be
photogenic.
